EUROCK 2028

Dear Colleagues, Researchers, Engineers, and Friends,

On behalf of the Comité Français de Mécanique des Roches (CFMR), the French National Group of the ISRM, we are delighted to invite you to EUROCK 2028, the ISRM Regional Symposium, which will take place from 25 to 30 June 2028 in Aix-en-Provence, France.

Under the theme “Advances in Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering to Cope with Increasingly Extreme Conditions”, EUROCK 2028 will bring together academics, practitioners, industry professionals, consultants, contractors, and students from around the world to discuss current challenges and emerging solutions in rock mechanics and rock engineering.

As underground infrastructures become deeper, larger, and increasingly complex, our community is facing new challenges related to extreme geological conditions, climate change, energy transition, sustainability, and resilience of infrastructures. EUROCK 2028 aims to provide a forum for scientific exchange and interdisciplinary discussions on topics ranging from rock mass characterization, tunnelling, support design, and geohazards to underground storage, multiphysical couplings, artificial intelligence, and innovative approaches to education in rock mechanics.

The symposium will feature keynote lectures, technical sessions, poster presentations, workshops, industrial exhibitions, and technical visits, offering many opportunities for knowledge sharing and professional networking. Among the planned technical tours, participants will have the opportunity to discover remarkable engineering sites in southern France, including the historic Malpasset dam site.

Beyond the technical program, we warmly invite you to experience Aix-en-Provence and the Provence region. Founded by the Romans and renowned for its unique blend of history, culture, gastronomy, and Mediterranean atmosphere, Aix-en-Provence offers an exceptional setting for international exchanges and social events.
